- Rene Herse Fleecer Ridge TC Endurance
Rene Herse's tires are mostly known as touring and gravel bike tires, but their biggest tire, the Fleecer Ridge, comes in the 29x2.2 size, which makes it a good choice for mountain bikes. The Fleecer Ridge features Rene Herse's signature knobby tread, which should be useful in a broad range of conditions.
Having tested several Rene Herse tires, we've gained a good understanding of their performance in our tests. The Fleecer Ridge allows us to compare it against the most popular mountain bike tires, offering a fresh perspective on Rene Herse's performance in our tests.
Like nearly all of Rene Herse's tires, the Fleecer Ridge is available in four different casing designs (Extralight, Standard, Endurance, Endurance Plus). We've tested the Fleecer Ridge with the Endurance casing, and it should be a good option for mountain bikes. From our Rene Herse Casing Comparison, we know that the Endurance casing comes with much stronger sidewalls, which significantly improves sealing capabilities and cut resistance.
We've tested the Fleecer Ridge Endurance and will compare it against the most popular mountain bike tires.

Conclusion
- Rene Herse Fleecer Ridge TC Endurance
(100% is fastest - lightest - highest - strongest)
The Rene Herse Fleecer Ridge Endurance performs almost exactly how we expected based on all the previous Rene Herse tires we've tested. We've also had some of their other tires with the knobby tread on our test bench, and you can find those results in the CX/Gravel section. Pro Members can use Pro View to compare tires from all categories in a single overview, allowing you to get a clean view of all of our Rene Herse tire tests.
When we compare the Fleecer Ridge with Endurance casing to the 42 mm Hurricane Ridge and 38 mm Steilacoom TC, which both have the same tread pattern but which we tested in the Standard casing option, the Fleecer Ridge loses out on rolling resistance but easily beats those tires when it comes to puncture resistance of the tread and the sidewalls.
When we compare the Fleecer Ridge to the best-performing tires from other manufacturers, we see the same pattern that we've seen in our previous tests: the Rene Herse tires can't compete with the competition when purely looking at our test results. If you're into Rene Herse's tires, the Fleecer Ridge should be decent, as we can't find any significant shortcomings.
