(100% is best)
The Vittoria Corsa Control G+ 2.0 is an updated version of the original Corsa Control (read review) which Vittoria launched back in 2017. The Corsa Control is very similar to the "regular" Corsa except for a thicker, wider, and grippier tread. Vittoria recommends using the Corsa Control for races on cobblestones and pavé as they claim it provides better puncture resistance and grip.

When purely looking at the specifications of both the Corsa and Corsa Control, it's hard to spot any big differences. The most visible change is the different tread pattern and slightly higher weight of 10 grams for the Control version. The Corsa Control is available in 25, 28, and 30 mm tubular and clincher versions with black or para sidewalls. New is the addition of TLR (tubeless-ready) versions that add 40 grams of weight but can be used without and inner tube.
With the Corsa Control 2.0 review, we've also added some new measurements that coincidentally help to make the differences between the different versions of the Vittoria Corsa clearer. These measurements are "unmounted tread width" and "unmounted casing width". The unmounted tread width shows some surprising differences between the different versions of the Corsa.

All size measurements are taken at an air pressure of 100 psi / 6.9 bars on a 17.8 mm inner width rim. |
Weight. Specified weight of the 25-622 Corsa Control G+ 2.0 is 265 grams, our sample comes in a bit lighter at 262 grams.
Unmounted measurements. With the tire off the wheel, width of the casing is 70 mm and the tread has a width of 34 mm.
Compared to the plain Corsa G+ 2.0 (read review), tread width has increased from 31 mm to 34 mm. Compared to the Corsa Speed G+ 2.0 (read review) that has a tread width of just 25 mm, the tread of the Control is much wider.
Size. On a 17 mm inner width rim, at an air pressure of 100 psi / 6.9 bars, the Corsa Control has a width of 27 mm and a height of 24 mm.
Tire Thickness. One of the differences between the Corsa and Corsa Control that Vittoria indicates is a thicker tread for the Control version. Our measurements indicate the thickness of the tire has increased from 2.5 mm for the Corsa to 2.6 mm for the Corsa Control.
The sidewalls have a thickness of 0.9 mm which is very similar to other Vittoria tires with cotton casings

The Road Bike section is a multi tire size section, air pressures have been adjusted to the measured casing width. All numbers are for a single tire at a speed of 29 km/h / 18 mph and a load of 42.5 kg / 94 lbs. Use the formula: RR (Watts) = CRR * speed (m/s) * load (N) to calculate rolling resistance at a given speed and load. |
In the rolling resistance tests, the Corsa Control G+ 2.0 performs a bit better than the Corsa Control G+ 1.0 (read review) it replaces by about 1.0 - 1.5 watts. Compared to the plain Corsa G+ 2.0 (read review), the Corsa Control G+ 2.0 is about 1.0 - 1.5 watts slower. The 2.0 versions of the Corsa G+ and Corsa Control G+ now perform very similarly in the rolling resistance tests where there was a big difference with the 1.0 version of both tires.
With the 2.0 versions of the Vittoria Corsa G+ tires, there have been some interesting changes. The Corsa G+ 2.0 was a bit slower than the same tire from the previous generation. The Corsa Speed G+ 2.0 (read review) was a bit faster than the Corsa Speed G+ 1.0. Now we see the Corsa Control is also a bit faster than the previous generation Corsa Control.
It looks like Vittoria now uses (almost) the same compound for the Corsa and Corsa Control that seems to be a mix between the Corsa 1.0 and Corsa Control 1.0 compounds.

Puncture resistance of both the tread and sidewall is the same when compared to the previous generation Corsa Control and Corsa G+ 2.0. All these tires score 12 points in the tread puncture test and 5 points in the sidewall puncture test.
We can't confirm Vittoria's claims of increased puncture resistance for the Control version of the Corsa.

Conclusion
- Vittoria Corsa Control G+ 2.0 (open) 25
(100% is best)
While the previous versions of the Vittoria Corsa G+ and Vittoria Corsa Control G+ showed a clear difference in the rolling resistance tests, the new 2.0 versions of these tires have closed up to each other considerably. We think it's safe to assume that the grip levels these tires offer has also closed up with the 2.0 version of the Corsa offering a better grip than the 1.0 version and the 2.0 version of the Corsa Control offering less grip than the 1.0 version.
Because we focus mainly on rolling resistance we don't think this is a bad thing if grip is still sufficient. We rate this tire 4 out of 5 as these are one of the best cotton tires out there. Don't forget to use the comparison section to compare all these tires side by side.
