The Enve SES Road Tire is one of those road bike tires that's available in a very large range of sizes and is now also offered in the 33 and 35 mm sizes, which may be interesting for gravel bikers. We previously tested the 25 mm version of the SES Road Tire (read our review) and found it to be a tire that is fast and light but still has very good tread puncture resistance. These characteristics make the 35 mm version even more interesting for gravel bikers.

Under the surface, we see no obvious differences between the first versions of the SES Road Tire that came to market around 2020 and the new 33 and 35 mm versions. We still see the same tread pattern, and the compound and Vectran puncture protection remain unchanged. Whether everything is truly still the same, we will soon find out with the help of our test results.

A significant advantage of the Enve SES Road Tire is that the tire is now available in 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, and 35 mm sizes, allowing you to select the exact size you need. On top of this wide range of sizes, all sizes are available with both black and tan sidewalls, which we immediately see as a plus point.

The CX/Gravel section is a multi tire size section, air pressures have been adjusted to the measured casing width.

All numbers are for a single tire at a speed of 29 km/h / 18 mph and a load of 42.5 kg / 94 lbs.

Use the formula: RR (Watts) = CRR * speed (m/s) * load (N) to calculate rolling resistance at a given speed and load.

When it comes to rolling resistance and puncture resistance, the 35 mm version of the SES Road Tire performs almost the same as the 25 mm version we tested back in 2020 (read our review). However, we see a significant improvement in the wet grip test, where the 35 mm version now scores 79 points, while the 25 mm version scored only 69 points. We believe the higher grip comes from the larger size, but we are not ruling out a slightly improved compound, as five years is quite a long time in the tire world.

Overall, the Enve SES Road Tire performs strongly, and we rate the 35 mm version of the SES Road Tire higher than the 25 mm version. This is mainly due to the better wet grip, but we find that the tire performs better when compared to other tires that are also available in the 35 mm size.

If you own Enve wheels and want to use the same brand of tires to potentially achieve a slight aerodynamic improvement, we see no reason not to choose the SES Road Tire (or SES Raceday).
