- Schwalbe Rocket Ron Super Race Addix Speed
The Schwalbe Rocket Ron has become a classic, and since our first test of the Rocket Ron with LiteSkin casing and PaceStar compound in 2015, several iterations have passed through our hands. This time, we're looking at the Rocket Ron with the Super Race casing and Addix speed compound, which is currently the fastest version available.

After receiving the Rocket Ron, we noticed that the sidewalls are black. We initially thought Schwalbe's Super Race casing always came with transparent sidewalls. Strangely, the Rocket Ron is not available with transparent sidewalls at all, and in today's classic look era, this is quite a miss. It won't make much difference in the test results, but you need to pay attention if you're looking for transparent sidewalls.
In addition to the Super Race version, the Rocket Ron is also available with the Super Ground casing, which is supposed to be more robust (we cannot confirm this). The weight of the Super Ground version is also slightly lower, and we still can't quite place Schwalbe's Super Race and Super Ground casings. The Super Race version always comes with the Addix Speed compound, while the Super Ground version is available with both the Addix Speed and SpeedGrip compounds.
The Rocket Ron is available in an impressive range of sizes, and we greatly appreciate that Schwalbe also considers other tire sizes. If you need a less common tire size, you almost always end up with Schwalbe, and that's worth something.
We tested the Rocket Ron Super Race Addix Speed in the 29x2.35 size and will compare it to a range of similar mountain bike tires.

Conclusion
- Schwalbe Rocket Ron Super Race Addix Speed
(100% is fastest - lightest - highest - strongest)
The Schwalbe Rocket Ron is one of the most versatile mountain bike tires out there, and the test results of this Super Race Addix Speed version again demonstrate this. We noticed that the tread height of our 2.35 version is higher than the 2.25 versions we've tested in the past. We've seen before that a larger size also comes with higher knobs, so there are more differences than just the size.
The Rocket Ron Super Race Addix Speed is fast, offers reasonable puncture resistance of both the tread and sidewalls, and features larger-than-average knobs in this segment. However, the biggest shortcoming is in the hard-surface wet grip test, where the Addix Speed compound performs less than Schwalbe's Addix Speed compound and the compounds used by the competition.
The Rocket Ron remains a classic due to its versatile tread pattern.
