- Schwalbe G-One RX Pro (transparent) 40
(100% is best)

Schwalbe has recently updated their new R line gravel bike tires, which are now known as the Pro versions. In addition to a new construction and compound, an extra tire has been added alongside the G-One R and G-One RS, which is called the G-One RX. The R line now consists of three tires, with the R as the all-round version, RS as the fast semi-slick, and the coarser RX as an option for rougher conditions.
Like the other versions in the renewed Pro range, the G-One RX also includes the updated Addix Race compound, which we tested very well on the new G-One RS Pro tires. The casing is now also the new Pro version, and the main improvement here is a wider puncture protection strip that protects a larger part of the tire.
We have tested several tires from Schwalbe's new Pro line (G-One RS Pro, G-One RS Pro 50, Rick XC Pro), and they have all performed very well in our testing. Because the RX has a brand-new tread pattern and does not have a predecessor with a similar profile, comparison is somewhat more challenging. The new G-One RX falls approximately between the old G-One Bite and G-One Ultrabite when looking purely at the tread pattern, and we have also added in the G-One RS for comparison.
As with the other new models from the G-One Pro line, Schwalbe avoids offering too many different versions. You can no longer choose from different casings and compounds, but you do still have the option of transparent or black sidewalls, which is a change we still welcome.
The G-One RX is available in 40-622, 45-622, and 50-622 sizes, which should meet the needs of 99% of gravel bikers looking for this type of tire. We tested the 40-622 version with transparent sidewalls and will compare it with a wide range of similar tires.

The CX/Gravel section is a multi tire size section, air pressures have been adjusted to the measured casing width. All numbers are for a single tire at a speed of 29 km/h / 18 mph and a load of 42.5 kg / 94 lbs. Use the formula: RR (Watts) = CRR * speed (m/s) * load (N) to calculate rolling resistance at a given speed and load. |

Conclusion
- Schwalbe G-One RX Pro (transparent) 40
(100% is fastest - lightest - highest - strongest)
The Schwalbe G-One RX Pro is the next tire from Schwalbe's new Pro line that delivers a robust performance in our tests. We see a strikingly low rolling resistance for the coarse tread that the RX offers, which even approaches the extremely low rolling resistance of the semi-slick G-One RS Pro (read our review). The puncture resistance of both the tread and sidewalls is average and about what we expected.
The weakest point we observe is the wet grip on a hard surface that's on the low side. We don't see this as a huge problem as you probably won't pick this tire when your main requirement is hard surface grip. We expect this is due to the open tread pattern with relatively high knobs, which can flex quickly on a hard surface. Conversely, the off-road grip on softer surfaces where the tread can perform its job will be much stronger.
Schwalbe did a great job with the G-One RX, and we're looking forward to testing the new G-One R Pro, which we expect to be a vast improvement over the old G-One R.
