NOTE: This 32 mm Schwalbe Pro One TLE was tested as a CX-Gravel tire at low air pressures. You can also find a test of the 25 mm Pro One TLE in the road bike section.
The Pro One TLE is Schwalbe's most high-end allround road bike tire, and it's available in many sizes. We already tested the 34-622 version last year, and this time we will look at the slightly smaller 32-622 version to see how it performs and compares to the 34-622 version.

Over the last few years, we've seen a trend towards bigger road bike tires, and most newly introduced road bike tires now include 32-622 sizes, with some even going up to 34-622 or 35-622 as the largest size. With reviews of both the 32-622 and 34-622 (read our review) versions of the Pro One TLE now available, choosing between these sizes has become a bit easier.
When we look at all the available tire sizes, the Pro One is also an interesting tire for those looking for fast 20" (406) or 26" (559) road bike tires, as it's one of the few (fast) tires that's available in the 28-406 and 28-559 sizes often used on recumbents. We don't test the 406 or 559 sizes, but this test of the 32-622 will at least provide another data point for those interested in the rare sizes.

The CX/Gravel section is a multi tire size section, air pressures have been adjusted to the measured casing width. All numbers are for a single tire at a speed of 29 km/h / 18 mph and a load of 42.5 kg / 94 lbs. Use the formula: RR (Watts) = CRR * speed (m/s) * load (N) to calculate rolling resistance at a given speed and load. |

Conclusion
- Schwalbe Pro One TLE Addix 32
(100% is fastest - lightest - highest - strongest)
The 32-622 Pro One TLE performs better in the puncture resistance and wet grip tests than the 34-622 Pro One TLE we tested last year. When we look at the puncture test results of the 25, 32, and 34 mm versions of the Pro One TLE, we see them scoring 43, 37, and 47 points in our tread puncture test. We don't often see a 10-point difference in this test. We're wondering if Schwalbe made some changes or if they do not always use the same raw materials.
In the wet grip test, we also see the grip of the center part of the tire coming in better than we saw on both the 25 and 34 mm sizes. As the Pro One uses a dual compound with a harder compound in the center and a softer compound along the edges of the tire, this slightly better center grip might be the result of a slightly smaller strip of the hard compound and more of the softer edge compound being in contact with the test surface.
We were disappointed by the actual size of the 34-622 Pro One TLE (31.0 mm wide), and with this test of the 32-622 version, we're a bit puzzled why Schwalbe even released a 34-622 version when it's only marginally bigger than the 32-622 version (30.4 mm wide). We measured the total width of the casings when unmounted, and the 32 measures 82 mm wide. In comparison, the casing of the 34-622 measures 85 mm wide, and it explains the marginally larger width when mounted and inflated. The tread width is also the same on both tires (37 mm), so there's no reason to upgrade for more tread width either.
