- Tufo Comtura Duo 28
(100% is best)
Tufo describes the Comtura Duo as their most universal tire in their new Comtura lineup. More specifically, the Comtura Duo is a racing class tire that offers exceptional puncture resistance and durability over many miles. 0ur tests confirm most of Tufo's claims but it also shows the Comtura Duo offers a lot of wet grip but isn't the fastest rolling tire which, in our opinion, makes it more of a training than a racing tire.
The Comtura line of road bike tires consists of both tubeless-ready and tube-type tires with the Comtura Duo is a being one of the traditional tube-type (clincher) tires. The Comtura Duo comes with a 120 TPI casing and an additional layer of Vectran anti-puncture breaker under the tread. The Vectran breaker is the same material that Continental uses on their top of the line tires, but we've found Tufo uses a thicker layer of Vectran as their tires perform much better in our puncture tests than similar tires from Continental.
Tufo seems to be that hidden gem when it comes to bicycle tires, but we find their (road bike) lineup to be somewhat hard to read and understanding where a tire fits in can be difficult. We've tested the 28-622 size of the Comtura Duo and we'll compare it to the most popular tube-type road bike tires from competing brands and when you've read our review, and the test results, you'll know exactly what to expect from the Comtura Duo and where it fits in when compared to the competition.

The Road Bike section is a multi tire size section, air pressures have been adjusted to the measured casing width. All numbers are for a single tire at a speed of 29 km/h / 18 mph and a load of 42.5 kg / 94 lbs. Use the formula: RR (Watts) = CRR * speed (m/s) * load (N) to calculate rolling resistance at a given speed and load. |

Conclusion
- Tufo Comtura Duo 28
(100% is best)
The Tufo Comtura Duo excells in both wet grip and puncture resistance which makes it one of the best tube-type tires on the market when you're looking for a tire that won't let you down on your rides. The tradeoff is rolling resistance that's substantially higher than most other tube-type road bike tires that we tested to date.
Given the exceptional puncture resistance and tire volume, weight is extremely low at just 249 grams for the 28-622 size. The Comtura Duo is the go-to tire if you're looking for a light but puncture-resistant tire.
Overall, the Comtura Duo is another strong performer from Tufo with a solid rating from our side. We're looking forward to testing more tires from this small brand that offers a strong lineup of tires at affordable prices.
