The Schwalbe Wicked Will quickly comes on the radar when you need more grip than a Rocket Ron or Racing Ray and you find a Nobby Nic or Hans Dampf too aggressive. The Wicked Will falls in between those tires, and when we look at the profile, it is a good solution for many people who want a little more grip.

Because the Wicked Will leans more towards grip, it is not available with Schwalbe's Addix Speed compound and the fastest version of the Wicked Will comes with the Addix SpeedGrip compound. If you need even more grip, it's also available with the Addix Soft compound. This is a significant difference compared to the Rocket Ron and Racing Ray, which are not available with the Addix Soft compound.

The Wicked Will is also one of the few tires in Schwalbe's lineup that's available in the Super Race, Super Ground, or Super Trail casings. The variety of options is vast, and it seems highly unlikely that the right type of compound or casing is not available. We are impressed by Schwalbe's wide variety of options in their MTB lineup, and no other manufacturer comes close in this regard.

We tested the Wicked Will with the Super Race casing and Addix SpeedGrip compound, and in this review, we will compare it with some of Schwalbe's most popular mountain bike tires and a selection of similar tires from other brands.

The Wicked Will does exactly what we expected from it. The rolling resistance is higher than the Racing Ray with the same Addix SpeedGrip compound, but the Wicked Will makes up for this when it comes to wet grip on both hard surfaces and off-road grip (knob height).

We are impressed by the Wicked Will. If you are used to a Racing Ray or Rocket Ron, we expect the Wicked Will to provide a noticeable improvement in grip level (we can hardly imagine ever needing more grip). A Wicked Will on the front and a Racing Ralph with Addix Speed compound on the rear is always a good compromise if you're looking for more speed.
